2017 70+ Play Offs
Hampshire retain the 70+ Play Offs Trophy
Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat chancing the weather forecast of showers later in the day.
Swain and Blackey opened cautiously and progress was on the slow side due to the low bounce and wet outfield.
Blackey was first out bowled by Woodward with the score on 45 after 17 overs. Watson joined Swain for a partnership of 84 when Swain was stumped for 64 off the bowling of Davis with the score on 129 from 33 overs.
Watson made a fine 47 before falling LBW to Woodward and Hampshire finished their innings on 189 for 5 from 45 overs. Woodward 3 for 31 in 9 overs was the pick of the Worcestershire bowlers.
After tea Knowles and Davis began the Worcestershire innings scoring 18 in the first 2 overs. But Hall and Langford put the brakes on and the important wicket of Knowles was taken by Langford with the score on 26 after 8 overs.
Worcestershire then found scoring difficult against tight bowling and wickets continues to fall. With the score on 95 for 6 Davis was joined by Rawlings. They took the score to 153 after 42 overs when Davis was out for 64 leaving Hampshire in full control. The Worcestershire innings finished on 166 for 9 wickets leaving Hampshire the winners by 23 runs.
